When I was growing up it never rained! At least that's the way it felt... you'd look forward to enjoying eight weeks of brilliant sunshine outside - a proper English summer.
Not being one to lose hope I found myself uttering the phrase 'well perhaps it will be an Indian summer this year...' You've got to love the eternal hope of British people. Winston Churchill summed it up perfectly when he said: 'Hope dies last.'
